Terrace Talks : Casey

Hi Casey! Tell us a little about yourself.
“I was home-schooled all my life, I love to watch Netflix and knit, and I have 6 sisters! I got married a little over a year ago to a great guy named Hank and we have a cute cat named Ford.”

What do you enjoy doing on your off time?
“Hank and I really enjoy being outdoors. We love hiking and going to the river. Even though my sisters are all busy with their own schedules and it can be difficult to get everyone together, I still love when we can gather everyone for family time.”

What is your favorite thing about being in the cosmetology industry?
“I really like the people that I meet. That’s really important to me. I was home-schooled so being in an industry that allows me to interact with so many different people, from so many different walks of life is really interesting. I love when a guest comes in and tells me that they are looking for a hair color that is very natural yet still accents their best features. I love making hair color feel like you were born with it. Lived in hair and natural looking hair is a trend that is very wearable and low maintenance. I am a huge fan of styles that do not look like you’ve put a ton of time into them.”

Tell us a little bit about your Signature life:
“Growing up with 6 sisters means I’m used to being around a bunch of women. It’s a lot of fun for me. I think it’s really cool because there is nobody here like me, but there’s no one here like anybody else either. Yet we all get along so well. We really do love each other and want to help each other out.”

What made you decide to be a hair stylist?
“When I was little, every Sunday morning, my mom would line all of my sisters up and I would do each of their hair before church. It became my job every week and then my sisters started asking me to do their hair for other things, too. After seeing how good they felt after I gave them some curls or a fun braid, I realized that I wanted to do that for other people too. My sisters were my first models and they definitely showed me how I could boost someone’s self-esteem just by showing them how beautiful they already are.”

What has been the most influential part of your career so far?
“Coming to work at Signature. Before I came here, I worked in another salon where methods and techniques were very cookie-cutter-esque. There was one way to do color, one pattern to follow for highlights, etc. But after I came here, I realized how much more there is to know! That there was this whole world of cosmetology I had not been exposed to before. I love that in this salon, learning different and new ways to do things is a priority.”
